CALGARY, March 17, 2015 /CNW/ – Strategic Group is proud to announce the Accessibility for All Albertans initiative. Lead by Nabeel Ramji, a Portfolio Analyst at Strategic Group, this initiative will ensure that new and existing residential housing, commercial buildings and public institutions are accessible for all citizens.
Strategic Group CEO Riaz Mamdani is happy to be able to support Ramji as he moves forward on his work with accessibility in combination with his role at Strategic Group. “We are excited and proud be part of a plan to ensure that people with physical disabilities are able to have maximum access to their environment. We are dedicated to supporting Nabeel in his passion for this initiative. He is an individual that has not let his own physical limitations impair his ambition for public service.”
Kent Hehr, Liberal MLA for Calgary Buffalo sees great value in initiatives like Accessibility for All Albertans. “It shows accessibility makes sense: not only in that it’s the right thing to do but it makes financial sense too. Nabeel and Strategic Group show that the principles of full citizenship, an accessible society, and prudent business are not only aligned in mission, but also complementary. I look forward to the success of this initiative in reshaping Alberta for all Albertans.”
Ramji hopes that his efforts will affect how renovations and new buildings are meeting and exceeding current building codes. “My goal is to help create more inclusive and vibrant communities that are truly accessible for everyone. Accessibility isn’t limited to just one demographic, and I’m grateful for the opportunity Strategic Group is allowing me to help make a difference in my community.”
Ramji plans on exploring best practices in design and fostering partnerships between industry professionals, real estate developers, contractors and public sector leaders to develop a model that is economically viable and sustainable for each stakeholder. In 2014 Ramji was awarded the Premier’s Council Award of Excellence in Public Awareness for his contribution to this cause. He continues to dedicate his time and efforts to creating awareness of the need to make all of Alberta’s spaces and places accessible to all.
