The ‘chipmunk test’, and 3 other tools for better workspace design.

OPC’s response re this article reviewed by the IFMA Group; we are dismayed as Ergonomists in Canada & US that the HUMAN FACTOR is still not being measured, consulted with at the “blueprint” phase of design, redesign, build projects. White papers & published research from U Waterloo, U Simon Fraser, U of Loughborough, Cornell, U Cal, U Michigan (all have superior ergonomic programs) that unless & until the human factor is considered & quantified – physical, cognitive, mental – that FORM will win out over FUNCTION at a large and growing cost. FM’s, ID, Architects, Build Owners & Managers your designs will fail the human element as long as the Physical and Cognitive demands of the jobs, the human factor and ergonomics are not included Day 1 in these projects.
Signed the OPC Inc Ergonomic team who want to remind FM’s & Designers that “Function does not have to look like an Orthopaedic shoe” copyright 2014
